An internship will allow you the chance to prove yourself as a hard-working, intelligent, and capable professional. If there is an entry-level position available, as an intern, you are definitely in a competitive place for the spot. The firm will be more comfortable hiring someone familiar with how the company is run – like an intern. (2)
The mentors and professionals you meet during an internship can be the connection you need to that first, all-important job. As an Interp, it’s more than just about earning college credit or getting a grade.
Alumni offer many of our internships; many are successful role models and often former student-athletes just like you.
As an Interp intern, accomplished professionals in various fields will surround you and be mentors; people who genuinely care about your success.
Having these personal links to other individuals in your area of study can be the difference in getting your foot in the door for an interview for a future job.
Learning your way around the office “water cooler,” understanding office jargon and the art of small talk will improve throughout your internship. You’ll learn from both a personal and professional setting at work. Over time, you’ll relax, gain more confidence, and be able to focus your energy on excelling at your job. It’s a win-win for our students and Interp employers.

Two of the main reasons why college-age students pursue an internship is to gain valuable experience and exposure to a given field that they otherwise would not gleam through regular studies. This resume building experience makes it just that much easier to get a job post-graduation.
(higher G.P.A., fewer failed courses)
Another significant advantage of an Interps internship is that you can establish relationships with working professionals in many fields.
Networking fosters potential long term professional connections that could be useful for anything from career advice to a job recommendation. It can even help develop a support group of friends for when you are at a crossroads or feeling frustrated in your career or life in general.
As a student-athlete, you are challenged every day on the field and in the classroom. Even so, it’s easy for this to be within your comfort zone. Challenges well worth undertaking can push your limits, and the boundaries you thought were capable. This independence leads the way to more confidence and can quickly expand your
academic, personal, and professional horizons.
