Investment Club

The investment club started from a freshman player who wanted to know how to take his scholarship money and make it grow.

Partnering with one of the mentors in the program, they created the Investment Club – the FIRST ever team investment club for a DI Football Program.

The goal of the program is to educate and apply skills related to investment. With the support of the greater Maryland community, the Terps are investing real dollars that will ultimately benefit the program long term.

The vision of the investment club is to help student athletes create financial independence through education surrounding equity investments, markets and the economy.

The club enlisted the help of successful advisors and business owners in the DC metropolitan area, professors from the Robert H Smith School of Business, and Terp Alumni to form the advisory board.

Through education and application, the students will have real life experience in investing, team building, public speaking and presentation

The club will focus on education in the following areas:

• evaluating individual equity investments
• learning how to track the public equity markets
• basic understanding of market and Gross Domestic Product growth
